Attorney Andrea Buckley, based in Iowa, is a seasoned legal professional specializing in Employment Law at Tigges, Bottaro & Lessmann, LLP. Hailing from rural Nebraska, Andrea's diverse upbringing across several small towns, culminating in Boyd County, has instilled in her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals in her community. Andrea earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish Translation and Interpreting from the University of Nebraska at Kearney before pursuing her law degree at the University of Nebraska College of Law, from which she graduated in 2007. Her legal career began at a private law firm in Sioux City, but her dedication to public service led her to Iowa Legal Aid in 2009. There, she honed her expertise in consumer rights, landlord/tenant law, guardianships/conservatorships, and appellate advocacy, ultimately managing the statewide Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. In this role, she adeptly represented taxpayers in matters before the IRS and United States Tax Court, further developing a focused practice in tax litigation and gaining valuable insights into employment and taxation issues impacting foreign agricultural workers. Andrea's commitment to community service is exemplified by her nearly twelve-year tenure as a consumer board member for the Siouxland Community Health Center, where she served as president for four years, contributing to board development and strategic planning. In 2024, she transitioned to serve as the Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Siouxland Community Health Center, leveraging her extensive experience in the non-profit sector to guide the organization during a critical leadership transition. Outside of her professional commitments, Andrea is an enthusiastic roller skater and has a rich history in roller derby, having played for seven seasons with the Sioux City Roller Dames. Today, she enjoys skating on weekends and is actively involved in her daughter’s Girl Scout troop, where she fosters leadership and community spirit. Additionally, Andrea has the honor of singing the National Anthem at Sioux City Explorers games, embodying her passion for both law and community engagement.
