With over seventeen years of accounting and legal experience, attorney Thomas M. Shepherd is uniquely positioned to solve all the legal needs of small to medium-sized businesses. A Business, Employment and Corporate Attorney, Mr. Shepherd advises clients on business contracts, litigation avoidance, sale of business and corporate structuring, employment law, intellectual property protection and restrictive covenants. He also represents businesses in disputes arising from breach of contract, breach of non-compete and non-solicitation covenants, employment discrimination, theft of trade secrets, and ownership/partnership disputes. The early years of Mr. Shepherd’s career was spent at a prominent business litigation, corporate transactional, and employment law firm located in Buckhead, Georgia. After several years, Mr. Shepherd left to serve as General Counsel for an Atlanta-based technology firm that served over 20 million Americans. Mr. Shepherd then started Shepherd Law, LLC to provide the same premier legal services of his former firm but at a fraction of the cost. Mr. Shepherd grew up in Atlanta, obtaining a Bachelor in Business Administration from Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business. Majoring in Business Management, Mr. Shepherd concentrated his studies on entrepreneurship and small business development. During this time, Mr. Shepherd won several awards, including “Best New Venture” in the Robinson College of Business’s Entrepreneurship New Venture Competition. Additionally, Mr. Shepherd won the Robinson College of Business’s Strategic Management Capstone Competition, and placed first overall in the B.B.A. program’s graduation exit exam. Before law school, Mr. Shepherd worked as an accountant for Lifestyle Communities, Inc., a small residential development and construction company. His accounting responsibilities include general ledger auditing and management, accounts payable, invoicing, job costs, and budgeting. Mr. Shepherd also conducted worker’s compensation and general liability audits, as well as managed and audited homeowners’ associations. Mr. Shepherd received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from California Western School of Law, located in San Diego, California. While there, Mr. Shepherd was on the Dean’s List and served as an elected representative to the American Bar Association. Mr. Shepherd also won several oral argument competitions and competed in moot lives with his wife and 4 children in the Garden Hills neighborhood located in Buckhead, Georgia.
