I grew up in Miami and moved to Mississippi as a teenager, where I developed a passion for law and justice after following the historic prosecution of Byron De La Beckwith for the murder of Medgar Evers. That case inspired me to become a lawyer, and after serving in the Marines at 17, I pursued my degree in political science and went on to graduate from the University of Mississippi School of Law. For more than a decade, I worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Hinds County, quickly becoming lead prosecutor on some of the state’s most high-profile cases, including death penalty trials and cases that gained national media attention. My years in the DA’s office taught me not only how the State builds its cases, but also how often the system fails ordinary people. Today, as founder of The Yurtkuran Law Firm, I bring that experience to defending clients across Mississippi. From DUIs and drug charges to complex capital murder cases, I take pride in fighting for people in the toughest moments of their lives. My philosophy is simple: “Just because you did it, doesn’t mean you’re guilty.” Every client deserves a relentless, strategic defense. Beyond the courtroom, I also serve as a legal analyst and commentator, sharing insights on high-profile trials and legal issues on television, radio, and podcasts. My career has been driven by one mission: pursuing justice and protecting the rights of those who stand accused.
