About

Sam Smith is a member of Dunn Carney’s litigation team. His practice focuses primarily on tort and employment matters. Sam represents both plaintiffs and defendants in employment and housing discrimination cases, products liability cases, premises liability cases, and personal injury defense matters. He also works on a wide variety of commercial litigation issues, such as real property disputes, auto dealer bond matters, contract and debt collection, landlord-tenant (both landlord and tenant), and post-foreclosure evictions. In all areas of practice, Sam advises clients on a wide range of legal issues—before and during ligation. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Sam spent two years as a public school teacher in St. Louis, Missouri. (Go Langston Middle School Nighthawks!) He taught Language Arts during the day and ran after-school programs in Algebra and Science. After teaching, Sam moved back to his hometown in Oregon where he spent a year working in a local lumber mill. In his free time, Sam enjoys playing sports, reading books, and spending time with friends and family. He also runs the firm’s softball team.
