Ronald R. Pohlman is a distinguished attorney based in Sioux City, Iowa, with extensive experience in employment law and insurance. A native of western Iowa, Ron was born in Sioux City and raised on a grain and livestock farm near Castana. He graduated from West Monona High School in 1981 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business from Iowa State University in 1985. He then attended Drake University Law School, obtaining his Juris Doctor in 1988. Ron began his legal career as a clerk for the Workers' Compensation Commissioner and subsequently served as an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) for Job Service, where he handled unemployment compensation appeals for a decade. His career continued at the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals, adjudicating cases involving Medicaid, Food Stamps, and abuse registries. In November 2000, he returned to the realm of workers' compensation as a Deputy Workers' Compensation Commissioner, presiding over more than 800 cases until his retirement in 2015. Transitioning to private practice, Ron dedicated himself to representing injured workers in western Iowa. Alongside his legal practice, he has taught business, law, and public administration courses at various colleges for over 25 years. He holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Adult Education from Drake University. Ron resides in Sioux City with his wife, Kim, and they have two grown children living in Des Moines and Denver.
