Pooja Bhagat is an Indian American attorney practicing in immigration law. She attended George Washington University where she majored in Political Science with a background in international relations. While studying at George Washington University, she worked at the State Department at the Bureau of Consular Affairs and the Peace Corps. Ms. Bhagat then went on to attend law school at American University Washington College of Law in Washington DC. While attending American University, Ms. Bhagat earned her early practice certificate and worked with a criminal defense firm in Virginia, the Arlington County Commonwealth Attorney’s office, and the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office. After graduating from law school, Ms. Bhagat worked for a family, criminal, and business litigation boutique law firm practicing in the Washington DC metropolitan area. Ms. Bhagat then joined the Law Office of Nimmo Bhagat and trained under Nimmo Bhagat an immigration attorney practicing for twenty-seven years. Nimmo and Pooja Bhagat then founded Bhagat Law firm in 2014. While practicing immigration law, Ms. Bhagat has represented clients in family petitions, employment visas, non-immigrant visas, entertainer visas, extraordinary ability visas, domestic violence petitions, investor visas, naturalization cases, and many other complex immigration matters. Given her background in criminal law, Ms. Bhagat is well versed in dealing with the complexities of how criminal issues affect immigration cases. Since becoming the managing senior partner of Bhagat Law, Ms. Bhagat has moved the head office to the Washington DC metropolitan area, opened a satellite office in Houston, Texas, and expanded the practice to represent clients both in the United States and in countries across the globe.
