Matthew Mir Shafae is a Certified Legal Specialist in Estate Planning, Trusts, and Probate Law, recognized by The State Bar of California. Since founding Shafae Law in 2008, he has dedicated his practice to providing comprehensive and personalized legal services in estate planning and trust and estate administration. With a commitment to integrity and professionalism, Matthew offers reasonable flat-rate fees, ensuring that clients receive high-quality legal support regardless of the size of their estate or the complexity of their family dynamics. Before establishing his firm, Matthew honed his legal skills in the chambers of Hon. Martin J. Jenkins, now a justice of the California Supreme Court, where he contributed to his law school's law review. His commitment to public service was acknowledged in 2012 when he received the Wiley M. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services from the State Bar of California. He was named a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers from 2013 to 2018 and achieved the distinction of Super Lawyer in 2024. A lifelong resident of Belmont, Matthew maintains strong connections within his community. Outside of his legal practice, he enjoys an active lifestyle and cherishes time spent with his wife, Mercedes, and their cat, Isabela. An avid music enthusiast, he plays bass in several amateur groups. Matthew is also passionate about volunteering and youth education, having served as an academic tutor for at-risk youth in East Palo Alto through the Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula and as a former high school teacher in the Sequoia Union High School District.
