Mr. McFaul has been involved in virtually every type of litigation concerning trusts and estates before the Surrogate's Court and other courts. Prior to entering into private practice, he served as an Associate to the Counsel of the Public Administrator of Queens County, and thereafter was appointed Substitute Counsel to the Public Administrator by the Queens County Surrogate. This role led to a special focus in an area of Surrogate's litigation commonly referred to as "Kinship Proceedings." Mr. McFaul has established himself in the Surrogate's Court and the Trusts and Estate Bar, as a leading kinship attorney and has been involved in hundreds of Kinship proceedings throughout the United States and the world, primarily in Western and Eastern Europe. As a kinship attorney, Mr. McFaul represents parties claiming to be distributees of estates being administered by the Public Administrators of the Counties of the City of New York as well as Long Island. Representing kinship claimants, he establishes the rights of inheritance in a formal hearing conducted in the Surrogate's Court. Mr. McFaul is the author of, "Kinship and Status Hearings," an outline which has been employed by the New York State's Surrogate's Association, the Surrogate's Court Chief Clerks Association, and the Surrogate's Court Law Association. Mr. McFaul's publication is also included in, "Guidelines for Guardians ad Litem," a training manual used by the New York Unified Court System. In addition to authoring numerous publications, Mr. McFaul has lectured before the New York State Bar Association and the Queens County Bar Association, as well as private and civic organizations.
