James Carroll Buehler is a distinguished attorney and ATP-rated pilot with over 35 years of extensive experience in aviation law and related fields. He has accumulated over 15,000 hours of flight time and holds type ratings for several aircraft, including the B727, B737, B757, B767, IA-JET, and CE-500. Mr. Buehler served as a Part 121 pilot and aircraft and simulator Check Airman with ATA Airlines from 1983 to 2007, and as a Part 135 pilot and Director of Operations from 1975 to 1979 and again from 2006 to 2013. He is also an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE). In addition to his aviation background, Mr. Buehler has a robust legal career, representing clients in federal and state courts, as well as handling appeals before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the NTSB. His practice extends to enforcement, compliance, and administrative proceedings before the FAA and the U.S. Department of Transportation. From 1996 to 2000, he served as a Hearing Judge with the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission and was a judge pro tem in various courts from 1980 to 1995. A registered Civil Mediator since 1997, he has facilitated mediation training and served as an Adjunct Professor in Commercial Law at Indiana University and the University of Indianapolis. Mr. Buehler is a prominent lecturer in aviation law at Purdue University and Indiana University McKinney School of Law. He is licensed to practice in both Indiana and Illinois and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the AOPA and the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association. Currently, he serves as the President and Chairman of the Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame, Inc.
