Frederick E. Blakelock is a Partner at Butler Pappas. His practice includes defense of high exposure products liability and complex casualty defense litigation, in addition to representing clients in construction, professional liability, commercial and coverage litigation. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Lafayette College in 1988 and his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University School of Law in 1992. He is licensed to practice in all federal and state courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Derek has represented manufacturers of consumer products, construction equipment, agricultural and industrial machinery in defense of products liability claims. In addition to defending lawsuits, Derek has counseled clients on product manuals and risk management. Derek has many years of experience in defense of asbestos claims and hazardous chemicals in toxic tort litigation, and has defended clients in a wide variety of catastrophic personal injury lawsuits. He has also represented clients in construction and professional liability litigation. He has represented large corporations and small to mid-sized businesses in commercial and business tort litigation, including disputes arising out of sales contracts, partnership agreements, non-compete agreements, unfair competition, fraud, trade secrets, and defamation. He has also defended insurers in insurance coverage litigation. Derek is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Camden County Bar Association, the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) and the Defense Research Institute (DRI), where he serves on the Products Liability and Commercial Litigation Committees. He has been admitted to the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Additionally, he serves as a certified Arbitrator for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and is a Volunteer Attorney at Support Center for Child Advocates.
