Recognized as a pioneer in immigration law within Wyoming, Ms. Trefonas was one of only three attorneys in the state with this expertise and the sole immigration attorney on the western side. Her bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English has been instrumental in bridging the gap for the Spanish-speaking community, which represents a significant portion of Jackson Hole's population. Understanding the importance of accessible legal representation, she committed herself to serving this under-represented demographic and has seen her client base flourish as a result. In June 2006, to accommodate the growing demand for her services, Ms. Trefonas founded Trefonas Law, P.C., where she offers a comprehensive range of legal services, including deportation defense, affirmative benefits applications, and representation in both civil and criminal matters. Her experience extends beyond private practice; from 2010 to July 2013, she served as a contracted Assistant Public Defender, advocating for clients in Teton and Sublette County District and Circuit Courts, and even appearing before the Wyoming Supreme Court. In July 2013, Ms. Trefonas took on the role of Supervising Assistant Public Defender in Teton and Sublette Counties, becoming the area's only full-time Public Defender.
