David C. Skinner was raised in Birmingham Alabama, received his undergraduate degree from Tulane University and his J.D. summa cum laude from The University of Alabama School of Law. At law school, David was ranked first (1 of 87) in his section, was a member of Order of the Coif, received seven "Best Papers" and was a published member of the Alabama Law Review. David is listed in Best Lawyers In America, Super Lawyers in Alabama and Top Lawyers in Birmingham. He practices law full time and lectures, publishes, and serves on numerous professional committees. David is a member of the Alabama Law Institute's Real Estate Study Committee which prepares real property legislation for the State of Alabama. He currently serves on the Civil Courts Procedures Committee for the 10th Judicial Circuit (Jefferson County). David served as a Vice-Chairman or Co-Chairman on a variety of committees for the Business Council of Alabama over a ten-year period. In 2002, the Governor appointed David to the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations Advisory Council. David has lectured for the University of Alabama, Auburn University, the University of North Alabama, Jacksonville State University and Lawson State Community College. He was certified as a Senior Professional In Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) in 2000. Mr. Skinner has written numerous articles, handbooks, pamphlets and books. His publications include: Mr. Skinner is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve (Retired). His final assignment was a Legal Advisor (similar to an Administrative Law Judge) throughout the southeast. He is a graduate of the United States Army Command & General Staff College. He graduated first (1 of 96) in his Army Judge Advocate (lawyer) Officer Advanced Course. Prior to law school, Mr. Skinner served on active duty with the U.S. Army as a commissioned officer. He graduated first in his Artillery Officer Course, second in his MLRS (Rocket/Missile) Leader's Course and received certifications as an OSHA Hazard Communication Instructor, Hazardous Waste Manager and Formal Schools Instructor. David is also a Federal Ethics Counselor (US Army). Following his military service and prior to practicing law, Mr. Skinner worked in management in the hazardous materials transportation (trucking) industry in Alabama. David has been married for 15 years, has two young children and his family attends St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. David is an Eagle Scout, a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
