Mr. Bendix has over 24 years of experience in the defense of matters involving premises liability, automobile liability, products liability, municipal liability, toxic exposure, property damage, false arrest, civil rights, the Federal Employer's Liability Act, and Jones Act claims. He has defended several precedent-setting cases, including: Scotto v. Daddario, 235 A.D.2d 470 (2d Dep't 1997) (evidence of DWI convictions admissible for impeachment); Braunstein v. Town of Hempstead, 294 A.D.2d 323 (2d Dep't 2002) (catch basin not a special use for a municipality); Tartaglione v. Shaw's Express, Inc., 790 F.Supp. 430 (S.D.N.Y. 1992) (trucking company lease termination); Mazurkiewicz v. New York City Transit Authority, 810 F. Supp. 563 (S.D.N.Y. 1993) (qualified immunity in civil rights false arrest action). Mr. Bendix has spoken before major insurers on various litigation topics, including premises liability, automobile liability and trial practice. Mr. Bendix is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association. He has volunteered his time in his community coaching youth basketball and soccer teams.
