Adam S. Shiells is a founding partner of Shiells & Hammer. He works with clients to craft individually tailored estate plans designed to minimize cost, conflict, and impact on loved ones. For most clients, this means an estate plan designed to avoid probate court proceedings. However, when probate court is unavoidable, Adam applies procedural knowledge and trial experience to obtain favorable results for his clients. Adam earned a Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley (Go Bears!). He then attended the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he earned a Juris Doctor. As a young attorney, Adam clerked for the San Diego Superior Court before joining one of San Diego's premier litigation firms. There, Adam witnessed firsthand the damage that can result from the failure to properly implement a proactive estate plan. Sensing an opportunity to help others avoid that fate, Adam moved to Sacramento where his practice focuses on Estate Planning, Estate Administration, Probate Court Proceedings, and Dispute Resolution.
Probate attorneys guide families through the estate administration process after a loved one passes. They handle court filings, asset distribution, and dispute resolution. Common matters include estate administration, will contests, heir disputes, trust administration.
