William J. Newsom is an associate in the firm’s San Francisco office, focusing on antitrust, consumer and business litigation. Mr. Newsom works on many of the firm’s class action and antitrust cases, including acting as the primary associate on In re Carrier IQ Consumer Privacy Litigation. Outside of the class action context, Mr. Newsom has obtained excellent results on behalf of his clients in several federal cases, including a Section 1983 action on behalf of a pro bono client and a technology licensing dispute relating to vibration controllers. Mr. Newsom was also the primary associate in a successful bench trial in California Superior Court in San Francisco, and has experience in arbitration before AAA and FINRA, as well as mediation with JAMS. In law school, Mr. Newsom was the Senior Managing Editor of the Hastings Law Journal and President of the Environmental Law Society. He also received CALI and Witkin Awards in California Civil Procedure and served as a judicial extern for Judge John T. Noonan, Jr. at the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. Mr. Newsom utilizes his background in engineering to tackle complex technological issues that arise in antitrust and intellectual property cases.
