About

Virginia E. Howard has practiced law in California for over 30 years as a transactional and nonprofit legal compliance attorney. She began her career in the corporate department of large firms in Chicago, San Diego and Sacramento. As an associate with Graham & James, she focused on representing technology companies in venture capital finance transactions. In 1996 after moving to the Monterey Bay area, Virginia expanded her practice to real estate transactions after joining Fenton & Keller. In 2007, Virginia decided to focus of the representation of nonprofit organizations and nonprofit legal compliance with a view to serving her community. Virginia provides continuing legal education seminars and board training related to nonprofit law and legal compliance for tax-exempt organizations. Virginia received her J.D. from New York University's School of Law in 1987, and her B.A. from Amherst College in 1981. She grew up in New York City where she attended the United Nations International School. Ms. Howard is a former professor at the Monterey College of Law where she taught Business Organizations and Start-Up Companies. She has served on board of directors of Girls, Inc. of the Central Coast, a youth organization for girls, Give Me Hope, Inc. (a nonprofit that supports children's school and home in Kenya), Old Monterey Foundation dba Art in the Adobes, Monterey County Women Lawyers and the Monterey County Bar Association.
