About

Tisha Lene Harman is a prominent senior partner at A Center for Children & Family Law in Orange, CA, where she specializes in adoption, general practice, and personal injury law. A licensed attorney in California and before the United States Supreme Court, Tisha earned her Bachelor of Science from California State University at Long Beach and her Juris Doctorate from Western State University, graduating with honors. Tisha’s legal career is deeply rooted in child and family law, beginning during her law school years when she served as a law clerk and later as a child advocate at the esteemed Orange County firm, Van Deusen, Youmans and Walmsley. There, she honed her legal writing skills, contributing to Law Review articles and working as an extern for Justice Edward Wallin of the Fourth Appellate District. In 1995, Tisha co-founded A Center for Children & Family Law with her partner, Sheryl Edgar, aiming to represent the "voice of the children" in family law. Unlike many firms that focus primarily on divorce, Tisha and Sheryl are committed to advocating for children and families, filling a vital niche in Southern California. Her extensive experience includes representing over seven hundred children in court-appointed cases involving contested adoptions, guardianships, domestic violence, and more. Tisha’s proficiency in trial law spans from the Superior Court to the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal levels, where she has handled high-profile appellate cases, including In re Michael H. and In re Sarah S. In addition to her work in children's law, Tisha provides legal support to families navigating private adoption matters and assisted reproductive technology. As one of the few attorneys in California specializing in infertility and reproductive law, she passionately assists couples in achieving their dreams of parenthood, a cause close to her heart due to her own experiences with infertility. Tisha is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, California State Bar, and the Academy of California Adoption Lawyers, which upholds high standards of ethical conduct. She resides in North Orange County with her husband, Judge Nick Thompson, and their two children, enjoying family outings and traveling. Tisha’s commitment to family and community is deeply influenced by her upbringing in Southern California, where she learned the importance of helping others.
