About

Tom Winn represents management in the full range of labor and employment law issues. Tom represents employers in litigation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. He also handles labor arbitrations, negotiations, strike-related activities and other issues under collective bargaining agreements. Tom counsels management in union avoidance campaigns, and regularly handles litigation before the National Labor Relations Board. In addition, Tom advises and trains management clients on workplace issues ranging from employee handbooks and agreements, discipline and discharge issues, ADA and FMLA compliance, workplace harassment and discrimination, substance abuse, affirmative action policies, and unfair competition issues. He’s a frequent contributor to the annual Woods Rogers Labor & Employment Seminar series. Tom has been recognized for excellence in labor and employment by Best Lawyers in America, Virginia Business and Super Lawyers Magazine. Tom is a past chairman of the Employment Law Section of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. He has authored and co-authored numerous articles in various publications, including The Journal of Civil Litigation and The University of Richmond Law Review. Tom is co-author of Labor & Employment Law In Virginia: A Business Guide For Employers, a book published through the Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Tom graduated from Duke University and cum laude from the University of Richmond’s law school where he was a member of the McNeill Law Society. His community involvement has included the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America, Opera Roanoke and Pathfinders for Greenways and DePaul Community Resources, among many others.
