About

Sara M. Cates is a partner with the law firm of Bloch & Chapleau, LLC. Ms. Cates’ practice is primarily dedicated to representing men in high conflict divorces and parenting time disputes. Consequently, a majority of Ms. Cates’ practice involves complex financial issues including business valuations, asset and debt division, spousal maintenance and child support, as well as defense of protection orders and parenting time restrictions. Ms. Cates also focuses on representing clients in same-sex relationships, and has published several articles in Out Front Magazine concerning Civil Unions, second parent versus same parent adoptions, and the changing landscape of same sex marriage in Colorado. Ms. Cates is an active member of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice before the State and County Courts in Colorado. For her undergraduate education, Ms. Cates received her B.A. in Political Science and Criminal Justice from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas in 2005. Ms. Cates graduated cum laude and received her J.D. from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas in May of 2008 and was admitted to the Colorado Bar in October 2008.
