After obtaining his attorney license, Ryan began his legal career in criminal defense before returning to the Attorney General's Office. As an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division, he represented various state boards and agencies, gaining invaluable experience. His work in the Consumer Protection Division focused on enforcing the provisions of the tobacco master settlement agreement, showcasing his commitment to public service. In 2004, Ryan expanded his education by earning a Master of Divinity from Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon, where he also successfully passed the Oregon Bar Exam. However, his roots called him back to Arkansas in 2010, where he served as an attorney for the Arkansas Department of Human Services, managing foster care cases in Benton County.
