Rómulo Miguel Sauñe, who goes by either Romi or Rómulo, was born and raised in Peru and speaks Spanish fluently. Romi graduated magna cum laude from the University of La Verne in California with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. He also graduated cum laude with a Masters of Arts in International Relations from Norwich University in Vermont. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 2013, where he was awarded the Irwin Stern Moise Award in Legal and Judicial Ethics. Romi has been admitted to the New Mexico Bar, the Federal District Court for the District of New Mexico. Prior to his legal career, Romi served in the United States Navy for 12 years. He also worked for over two years assisting victims of domestic violence and at-risk youth. During law school, Romi volunteered with Catholic Charities preparing U-Visa and VAWA petitions for immigrant survivors of domestic violence. During his spare time Romi enjoys hiking, practicing martial arts and spending time with his wife Desiree and their four children.
