Mr. Melehy launched his legal career in 1987, serving first as a judicial law clerk to Maryland Court of Appeals Judge William H. Adkins, II. He then spent eight years as an Assistant Attorney General with the Maryland Attorney General’s Office, where he honed his trial skills. Since 1997, he has represented employees in a wide range of disputes—including wage‑and‑hour and discrimination claims—against both private‑sector and federal government employers. Over the years, he and his firm have secured substantial settlements as well as numerous verdicts and judgments on behalf of countless workers. He holds an AV‑Rated (Preeminent 5.0) designation from Martindale‑Hubbell Peer Review Ratings—the highest distinction awarded by that organization—and is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He serves on the Board of Directors and as President‑Elect of the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association (MWELA), and sits on the board of the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. Previously, he was Board President of the Employment Justice Center, an advocacy organization for low‑income wage earners. Mr. Melehy’s appellate practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia has produced numerous precedent‑setting decisions, further advancing protections for employees across the region.
