Michael R. Bartish is a seasoned attorney based in Grand Rapids, MI, with nearly two decades of experience in general practice and personal injury law. A distinguished graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he earned his J.D., Michael’s legal career began with a commitment to service as a member of the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps. His military background not only provided him with a robust foundation in criminal law but also honed his skills in high-stakes cases, including murder trials, during his tenure at Fort Hood, Texas. In 2011, Michael co-founded Springstead & Bartish Law, PLLC, which has transformed into SBBL Law, PLLC, now recognized as one of West Michigan’s premier criminal defense firms. His compassionate approach to defending clients is complemented by his impressive track record of acquittals in both state and federal courts. Michael’s strength lies in his ability to find resolutions that address clients’ unique circumstances, fostering trust with both clients and opposing counsel alike. In addition to his trial work, he has made significant contributions in appellate courts, achieving numerous victories and precedent-setting decisions in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals and Michigan appellate courts. Michael’s commitment to justice extends beyond his practice as he volunteers as a coach for the West Catholic High School Mock Trial Team. Outside of the legal world, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Anne, and their four children, often found cheering on their athletic pursuits or enjoying family games.
