My practice emphasizes elder law and long-term care planning, general estate planning, special needs trusts and settlement planning, and the related areas of probate/trust administration, guardianships and conservatorships. Prior to attending law school, I gained experience working with seniors and people with disabilities while earning a master’s degree in social work. During law school, I added a financial perspective to my background working as a securities broker for Charles Schwab, Inc. Upon graduation, I clerked for the Honorable C. Jean Stewart, Judge of the Denver Probate Court. As an attorney, I draw on my background, representing seniors, people with disabilities, and their families on a range of planning, administration, and crisis-management issues. I have authored numerous articles and continuing legal education materials, and I frequently speak to attorneys, financial professionals, and caregivers on topics of interest to seniors and people with disabilities. I am fluent in Spanish and have served as an interpreter in various settings, including Colorado Courts.
