Melissa A. Scartelli is the president and founder of Scartelli Olszewski, P.C., located in Scranton, Pennsylvania. With over 20 years of experience, she is a dedicated advocate for seriously injured plaintiffs in both state and federal courts across Pennsylvania. Melissa specializes in a broad range of complex legal matters, including automobile accidents, medical malpractice, workplace injuries, defective products, and insurance bad faith, among others. A native of Scranton, Melissa has committed her career to serving the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania. She is a firm believer in the power of legitimate lawsuits to enhance the safety of products and healthcare in the United States. In 2001, she established Scartelli Olszewski to protect the rights of accident and malpractice victims, and today, she and her firm are recognized for their ability to handle challenging cases that demand innovative legal strategies. Melissa takes particular pride in advocating for elderly clients, often representing individuals whom other attorneys may decline. Notably, she secured a landmark $970,000 verdict for a 91-year-old woman injured in a hospital, the largest recorded award in Luzerne County for an elderly patient. Additionally, she successfully obtained punitive damages for retired teachers denied benefits and won an $80,000 award for an elderly client in a pro bono case. Melissa is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She graduated from The Dickinson School of Law in 1987, where she led the moot court team and received the International Academy of Trial Lawyers "Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy." Residing in Dallas, Pennsylvania, she enjoys boating, golfing, and skiing, and her husband, Peter Paul Olszewski, Jr., is also a shareholder at the firm.
