Lee Ann James joined the firm in 2023 in an of-counsel role and currently serves on the faculty at Baylor Law School. Mrs. James taught legal writing as an adjunct professor for three years prior to joining the legal writing department in 2019, when she began teaching full time in the LARC program with a focus on litigation drafting. Mrs. James has subsequently also developed and teaches an upper-level elective focused on advanced discovery. Additionally, since 2015 she has worked for the Office of the General Counsel on a contractual basis, serving in an external role for the Baylor University Title IX Office. Mrs. James earned her J.D. with honors from Baylor Law in 2002, where she served as an Executive Editor for the Baylor Law Review, was a member of the Trial Advocacy Team, and earned the Matt Dawson Advocacy Award. Her early practice focused on medical malpractice defense, employment law, and general litigation. Mrs. James is actively involved in the community, having served as a board member for ShareFest Waco, Lorena Elementary PTA, Lorena ISD PAC, South Bosque Elementary PTA, and Midway High School PTA. She currently serves the greater Waco area with her son through the Young Men’s Service League. Mrs. James and her husband, Scott, a partner in CJSJ, are blessed with three children. They are active members of Harris Creek Baptist Church and in their extra time can be found either there or watching their kids’ sporting activities.
