About
My nonprofit practice is focused on helping nonprofit organizations with the full range of legal issues. I have a passion for religious organizations in particular, but work with tax-exempt organizations of all types, including: • social services • education • arts & culture • community development • family and community foundations • trade associations I speak regularly to professional and industry groups and volunteer boards of directors about issues facing non-profit organizations, and enjoy my role as both educator and advisor. Talents & Capabilities: I am highly analytical, and have a knack for helping clients grasp very complex issues in more understandable terms. I like to develop a deep understanding of an organization’s financial objectives and operational goals first and foremost. Then I can apply creative thinking to devise the best legal solutions to help meet those business goals. From straightforward drafting of contracts to more complex structuring and negotiating transactions, the organization’s goals are always top of mind for me. I earned my law degree from Yale Law School. While Yale is known for its scholarly bent, you will find that I take a very practical and business-oriented approach to finding and applying legal solutions. Areas of Specialty: • corporate governance • obtaining and maintaining tax exemption • mergers & other affiliations • federal & state taxation • directors & officers liability/fiduciary obligations • commercial contracts • litigation management
