About
I am a Certified Specialist in Elder Law Attorney as well as certified by the VA to handle VA benefits applications. Plus I am so excited to be named as a Super Lawyer by Thompson Reuters for 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. I have spent my entire legal career trying to help people navigate the legal maze of estate planning, especially planning for asset protection and use of governmental benefits. I practice in the areas of Elder Law, Life Care Planning, Estate Planning, Wills, Trusts, Disability, and Probate. My legal career really started many years before law school. After obtaining my BA degree, which was a great education, but didn't qualify me for anything specific, I ended up as a Paralegal in a law firm in Canton, Ohio. I worked in various areas of the law over my five years there, ending up in the Probate and Estate Planning area. I loved being able to help people through a very upsetting time. Eventually, I decided that I should probably go back to school and get my law degree. I did this even though I vowed never to set foot back in school after completing my undergraduate degree at the College of Wooster in 1979. I enrolled in Cleveland Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University and took every course I could in the Estate Planning and Taxation areas so that I could practice law in Estate and Trust Planning. I even was voted the Editor-in-Chief of the Cleveland State Law Review (a plum job in Law School). After graduation in 1986, I began my life as a lawyer at a large law firm in Cleveland, Ohio--Hahn Loeser Parks. It was a great experience to learn from and practice with many distinguished estate planners. I was there from graduation until August of 1993. When the opportunity presented itself to leave that firm to help form a small boutique law firm, I jumped at the chance. On September 1, 1993, Budish & Solomon was born, concentrating in Estate and Trust Planning and Corporate law. I became a partner in 1997 and in 2006, the name of the firm became Budish, Solomon, Steiner & Peck, Ltd. Effective January 1, 2015, the name of the firm is Solomon, Steiner & Peck, Ltd. My practice evolved so that I spend the majority of my time in Elder and Disability Law. I am a Certified Specialist in Elder Law by NELF and by the OSBA, and an Accredited Attorney for VA claims. I am committed to assisting clients to navigate their way through the maze of planning options for payment of long-term health care. I also love to help average, middle-class people plan to avoid probate and protect assets for their families. My legal background has helped in my personal life as well when I needed to care for my infirm, elderly parents, and disabled or addicted family members. It was an emotional time in my life and helps me to really understand and assist the families of my clients. I have been there so I can really give first-hand advice. In my free time, I am busy with my husband and three children. We enjoy watching movies and just relaxing as a family
