Laura L. Drake is the managing attorney of Drake Law Practice LLC, a law firm offering assistance with estate and Medicaid planning, probate, special needs trusts, and business operations. She has experience in all aspects of real estate and bankruptcy law in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. In 2010, Ms. Drake began working for Community Fund Management Foundation as the Associate Director for Southern Ohio to offer special needs trusts options and Medicaid payback trusts for disabled individuals. She also works as a Hotline Attorney at Pro Seniors, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides legal advice to seniors. An attorney licensed to practice in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois (inactive), Ms. Drake also volunteers on several local and state board of directors for various nonprofit educational and philanthropic organizations. She is the Co-Treasurer for Common Threads, a resource for families and providers in Clermont, Butler, Warren, and Hamilton counties for individuals with special needs. Ms. Drake is a member of the State Bar of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois, as well as the Northern Kentucky Bar Association and Cincinnati Bar Association. Fluent in French, Ms. Drake received a Premier Degré from The Institute International d'Etudes Françaises in Strasbourg, France, where she also served with the Council of Europe, working with committees concerning Eastern and Central European legal matters for publication in French and English regarding cases before the European Court of Human Rights. Ms. Drake is an active presenter throughout the United States on the subject of special needs trusts, financial and estate planning, STABLE accounts, foreclosure evictions, and guardianship issues. Her works were recently published with the National Business Institute ("Special Needs Trusts" 2012) and with The National Law Firm Ohio State Update ("Jefferson County Implements Mediation Program" 2010). In 2018, she completed a course sponsored by The Supreme Court of Ohio for ADR and mediation fundamentals and completed arbitration education with FINRA in 2019. Ms. Drake was awarded the 2019 House Bruckman Award for Teaching Excellence for her work at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, where she was taught from 2009-2019. She was the Program Chair for Paralegal Studies and taught Business Law, Bankruptcy, Legal Research and Writing, Litigation, Family and Probate Law, and Introduction to Dispute Resolution. She was awarded the Young Leader Award from the Ohio American Association of University Women in 2007.
