I am a founding Member of Hartwell Thalacker, Ltd., a Las Vegas-based employment law and business litigation firm. My career as a lawyer spans nearly 30 years in Nevada, representing employers (management) in employment and labor law matters. As a certified Global Professiona in Human Resources (GPHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR and SHRM-SCP), I view my clients' problems not just from a legal perspective, but also from a strategic business standpoint. By emphasizing a proactive approach to human resources compliance, I help my clients avoid time-consuming and expensive litigation so they can stay focused on building and growing their businesses. My human resources compliance practice includes drafting employment policies, contracts, and handbooks and advising employers located in Nevada, throughout the U.S. and worldwide on such matters as employee discipline and termination, reductions in force, workplace investigations, social media, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, the WARN Act, and enforcement of non-competes and non-disclosure agreements. I provide training for managers and employees on a variety of human resources isssues including harassment prevention, social media, and ADA and FMLA compliance. As a member of the Association of Workplace Investigation, I conduct workplace investigations for employers in a variety of industries. I am also an ATIXA Certified Title IX Hearing Officer and Decision Maker. When employment-related litigation arises, I ethically and vigorously defend my clients in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
