Larry Lawton serves as the Municipal Judge for the Town of Thayne, Wyoming, where he brings extensive legal experience and a commitment to public service. Although he is no longer engaged in private practice, his legal career has spanned several decades and diverse areas of law, including general practice, probate, and real estate. From 2012 to 2021, he primarily focused on probate and estates. Prior to his role in Thayne, Judge Lawton volunteered as an attorney for the Asia Area Headquarters of a non-profit organization in Hong Kong, addressing humanitarian, real estate, and visa issues across 26 Asian countries from 2011 to 2012. His community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Thayne Senior Center from 2012 to 2016 and as a Trustee for the Star Valley Medical Center Foundation during the same period. Additionally, he held the position of Chairman for the Lincoln County Republican Party from 2013 to 2016 and again in 2019 to 2020. Judge Lawton's legal journey began as a Law Clerk to the District Attorney of Los Angeles, followed by roles as a Deputy District Attorney in Los Angeles County and in civil litigation practices in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and the San Francisco Bay Area. He also served as a Superfund Attorney/Advisor for the Air Force Regional Counsel in San Francisco from 1990 to 2005. A life member and Certified Firearms Instructor with the National Rifle Association since 2007, Judge Lawton is dedicated to serving both his community and the legal profession.
