Katherine A. Heptig is a corporate associate, concentrating in tax law. Ms. Heptig has experience primarily in corporate, individual and partnership income taxation, as well as in all aspects of executive compensation and employee benefits. She advises clients with respect to these topics, and various other types of taxation, in connection with corporate operations and reorganizations; sales and acquisitions of businesses; corporate distributions, redemptions, liquidations and spin-offs; executive and deferred compensation arrangements; equity, incentive, change of control, severance, retention and other similar types of plans and arrangements; employment agreements; shareholder agreements; partnership organizations and transactions; and audit and other tax controversy matters. Ms. Heptig also advises not-for-profit corporations on matters with respect to formation, incorporation and securing tax-exempt status, as well as on matters relating to ongoing operational issues. Ms. Heptig is a member of the Dean's Advisory Board of the Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Prior to joining Farrell Fritz, Ms. Heptig was the Human Resources Quality/Compliance Attorney at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. From 2004 through 2010, Ms. Heptig was a tax/executive compensation & employee benefits associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, in New York. Ms. Heptig earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was a James Wilson Scholar, and her B.A. in both Political Science and Psychology, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Hofstra University, where she was the recipient of the Distinguished Academic Full-Tuition Merit Scholarship.
