About

Julio Henríquez is an immigration and international human rights attorney. He has attended New York University School of Law, obtaining a LL.M. in Law and the Global Economy with Concentration in Justice and Human Rights. He holds a second LL.M. in International and Comparative Law from National University of Singapore. Original from Venezuela, he first attended law school at Universidad de Carabobo, where he also obtained a Diploma in Procedural Labor System. He is admitted to practice law by the New York State Bar and in Venezuela. He has extensive experience in litigation, representing immigrants on removal proceedings and winning complex cases. His practice also focuses on family petitions, certain types of employment visas, immigration benefits based on extraordinary talent in the arts or science, and humanitarian relief such as U and T visas. Based on his work with human rights in Venezuela, he has spoken before the US Congress, the UN Human Rights Council, the UN Security Council (during an Arria-formula meeting), the OAS, the IACHR and multiple other settings. He has also been invited to provide a training as an expert on patterns of persecution of the Venezuelan regime to USCIS asylum officers and has completed multiple expert reports on Venezuelan human rights issues. His work and research on asylum, refugee flows and immigration law has been quoted in media worldwide. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and has a limited working proficiency in French.
