Juan Rocha is the founding attorney of Rocha Law Firm in Mesa, Arizona, specializing in immigration and personal injury law. Born in Chihuahua, Mexico, Juan immigrated to the United States at the age of three. His family successfully applied for lawful permanent resident status following the enactment of the 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act, and he became a U.S. citizen in 1996. With a passion for global exploration, Juan traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia and Western Europe before settling in Chicago to pursue graduate studies at the University of Chicago, where he had the privilege of learning from then-Professor Barack Obama. He earned his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law. Juan spent six years as an Assistant Federal Public Defender, advocating for indigent clients in federal court and arguing cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2013, he established his own law firm, where he focuses on the complexities of criminal and immigration law. His scholarly work on the intersection of these fields has been published by esteemed institutions, including the University of Chicago and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. As a lecturer at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, Juan teaches "Southwest Border Crimes," examining the prosecution of noncitizens under federal law. He is a sought-after speaker, having presented at numerous conferences and universities, including delivering a keynote address on “Crimmigration” at San Diego State University.
