I am a graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, in 2011 with a degree in Criminal Justice. I also achieved the rank of Cadet Captain and rose to the rank of Oscar Company Commander. I then attended Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit School of Law and earned my Juris Doctorate degree in December of 2013. I passed the Indiana Bar Exam in February of 2014 and was hired by the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney's Office located in Fort Wayne, Allen County, IN. During my 9 years as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, I served as a Deputy in the Child Support Division and focused on collecting delinquent child support for custodial parents that participated in the IV-D program. I was then promoted to the Misdemeanor and Traffic Division. I then was promoted to the Felony Division where I developed a specialty in narcotics investigations and prosecution. I was again promoted to a Deputy in the Major Felony Division where I handled more severe felony cases including participating in several murder successful murder prosecutions. After many years as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, I was promoted to the Section Chief of the Level 6 Felony Division. As the leader of this divison, it was my responsibility to manage other Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys, review cases for the filing of criminal charges, communicated with leaders of other departments to successfully prosecute lower level felony cases. I was finally promoted to Section Chief of the Narcotics Division. During my time in this leadership position, I supervised Deputy Prosecuting Attorney's assigned to the Narcotics Division. My main focus was the prosecution of individuals charged with Dealing in a Narcotic Drug, specifically Fentanyl because it was responsible for numerous overdoses and deaths in Allen County, Indiana. After leaving the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney's Office in September 11, 2023. I then started my own law practice, Joshua S. Michael Attorney at Law and began my focus on criminal defense. I am currently focused on providing Public Defender services in Wells County, IN and Steuben County, IN.
