About
Joseph C. Hohenstein, Esq. Mr. Hohenstein practices as Of Counsel to the Philadelphia firm of Landau, Hess, Simon and Choi. He has been a practicing immigration attorney for more than 20 years. Mr. Hohenstein was an Independence Foundation Fellow from 1996-97 working with the Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program and worked for five years with the Nationalities Service Center in Philadelphia where he directed the Temple University Law School Clinic program. His specialty is handling complex litigation in federal and immigration courts, especially relating to asylum and safe haven in the United States. Mr. Hohenstein has also done extensive work on behalf of immigrant victims of domestic abuse, assisting many women to obtain permanent residence and protection from their abusers. He is also experienced in cases dealing with the controversial use of secret evidence in immigration proceedings. Most recently he was lead counsel on a dedicated team of attorneys who sued to have a family of Syrian Christians returned to the U.S. after the so-called Travel Ban.
