John Hale Freeland is a seasoned attorney based in Oxford, MS, specializing in personal injury law. With deep roots in the local community, John completed his undergraduate studies in history at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) before serving in the U.S. Navy. His military career took him to various locations, including Newport, RI, New York City, and Norfolk, VA, where he served as Gunnery Officer aboard the USS Ainsworth (FF1090), gaining invaluable discipline and leadership skills while traveling to Northern Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, Africa, and the Middle East. After returning to Ole Miss for law school, John gained experience in the legal field by working for both the Mississippi Supreme Court and the Federal District Court. Since 1987, he has dedicated his practice to personal injury law in North Mississippi and Western Tennessee, advocating for the rights of individuals and families affected by accidents and negligence. Outside of his legal practice, John is actively involved in his community. He and his wife, Cynthia Freeland, a Certified Critical Care Nurse, are passionate about outdoor activities, including sailing and exploring nature, and they enjoy sharing good food. They are also committed members of the First Presbyterian Church of Oxford, where they teach an adult Bible study. Additionally, John is a proud Rotarian, further exemplifying his dedication to community service and engagement.
