A product of the Houston suburbs, Jason Kercheval embarked on a distinguished journey that began with his graduation from Klein Forest High School in 1998. Fueled by ambition and dedication, he earned a prestigious full scholarship to the United States Naval Academy, where he completed his studies in 2002 and was commissioned as an ensign in the US Navy. Jason spent three formative years on active duty as a Surface Warfare Officer, honing his leadership and strategic skills before transitioning to the Naval Reserves. Returning to his roots in Houston, he pursued his passion for justice by enrolling at South Texas College of Law Houston. During his tenure at South Texas College of Law, Jason’s exceptional advocacy skills set him apart. Selected as one of just twelve students for the elite Advocacy program, he gained national recognition as a traveling Mock Trial Advocate. His dedication and prowess were repeatedly acknowledged with top 10 placements in Mock Trial competitions, culminating in the receipt of the prestigious “John O’Quinn Heart of an Advocate” award. After law school, Jason reentered the military, this time as a Judge Advocate with the Texas Army National Guard, serving as the Staff Defense Attorney for soldiers facing disciplinary procedures, a position he held until 2015. While Jason practiced criminal defense, family law, and probate law early in his career, he found his passion in representing parents and others in family law settings, and has focused almost exclusively on Family law for more than a decade. Jason also is the president of the Veteran’s Treatment Court Support Fund, a 501©(3) non-profit organization focused on supporting justice-involved veterans and their families in the Montgomery County Veteran’s Treatment Court. Jason’s unique blend of military discipline and legal acumen, aggressiveness and compassion, combine to equip him with a formidable ability to tackle complex legal challenges with integrity and commitment.
