Jacob N. Smallhorn is an accomplished attorney and the founder of Smallhorn Law, LLC, situated in the heart of Charleston, Illinois. A proud native of this vibrant community, Jacob's deep roots in Charleston have shaped his commitment to serving the legal needs of his fellow residents. Growing up, he witnessed the profound impact of compassion and resilience, as his family provided loving care to over 300 foster children. Jacob's academic journey began at the University of Illinois, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science. His dedication to excellence was evident as he maintained a spot on the dean's list for eight consecutive semesters and earned membership in the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society. This strong foundation in the liberal arts paved the way for his foray into the legal field. After serving as an in-district legislative liaison for the Illinois Speaker of the House, Jacob was inspired to pursue a career in law. He returned to the University of Illinois to obtain his Juris Doctor, where he distinguished himself by receiving the CALI Award for Advanced Legal Research and dedicating over 300 hours to pro bono legal service. Following his graduation, Jacob gained valuable experience at a Northern Illinois law firm and as legal counsel for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. There, he played a critical role in drafting the Illinois Hydraulic Fracturing Rules and representing the department in significant real estate transactions. Today, Jacob focuses his practice on Business Litigation, Estate Planning, Probate, and Real Estate transactions. With his extensive legal background and a genuine passion for helping clients navigate complex legal matters, Jacob is dedicated to providing tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of each client. Outside the office, he enjoys woodworking, engaging in political discussions, and cherishing time with his wife, Laura, and their two children, Evan and Morgan.
