About

**Ian Cornel McKinley, Founding Attorney at McKinley Law Group** *Longmont, CO | Immigration Law* Ian Cornel McKinley is the founder of McKinley Law Group, where he passionately advocates for the rights of immigrants, drawing from his own rich heritage and unique life experiences. Born to an undocumented immigrant from Guadalajara, Mexico, Ian's journey has been profoundly shaped by his family's story. His father, who came to the United States as a young boy, pursued higher education at Stanford Law School, instilling in Ian a deep respect for the law and the pursuit of justice, despite his father’s untimely passing when Ian was just two years old. At the age of 15, seeking to reconnect with his roots, Ian embarked on a transformative journey as an exchange student in Puebla, Mexico. This experience ignited his passion for the vibrant culture, language, and community of Mexico, ultimately leading him to live there for over eight years. During this time, he excelled academically, earning a football scholarship to Universidad de las Américas (UDLA) and completing a master’s degree in North American Studies and Political Science. His academic pursuits were enriched by his collaboration with former Mexican Secretary of Economy and Foreign Affairs, Luis Ernesto Derbez Bautista, who served as his thesis advisor. Ian's commitment to serving the Spanish-speaking immigrant community in the United States was solidified during his time at the University of Colorado Law School. He understands the complexities and challenges faced by immigrants, and he is dedicated to providing them with comprehensive legal support. As a dual citizen of both the United States and Mexico, Ian is uniquely positioned to bridge cultural gaps and advocate effectively for his clients' needs. At McKinley Law Group, Ian leverages his extensive knowledge and personal experiences to empower individuals navigating the immigration process. His firm is a trusted resource for those seeking guidance in this vital area of law, driven by a commitment to justice and community service.
