About
Helen Tarokic (formerly Jugovic) is one of North Carolina's few NC Board Certified Immigration Law Specialists. She speaks Spanish, English and Croatian. Most of her team members are bilingual in English and Spanish; and several who speak Hindi, Gujarati, or Marathi. Her law office helps immigrants nationwide and internationally. Her Senior Associate, Katherine Haddock, is fluent in Spanish and English. The consultation is the most important part of your case, in my opinion. It is during that time that your questions and worries are resolved, or mostly resolved, and usually people who have a case will receive a contract and checklist of items I need to begin representation (or I will send it shortly after the appointment). This saves time for all involved and helps ensure that if I am going to represent you, you actually can make a decision fairly quickly as to whether to move forward. Quality matters. No matter who you seek as an attorney, be sure you feel the person advising you knows all about your entire history before starting a case. I can't imagine how anyone can do a 20 minute consultation and make a major life decision with so little awareness about a client's case. So that is why we do quality consultations and expect our clients to prepare with their own questions. It's worth being prepared - and saves money on the case in the long run. If you are already an existing client or saw me in the past, be sure to tell that to my receptionist so that she knows whether this is a consultation that has a fee or not. Existing clients often do not pay consultation fees but it depends on the nature of the call or meeting that must be scheduled. So it's important to give your full name and number and explain whether you've seen me before when you call in. Looking forward to meeting you! Remember you would not go to a doctor's office and expect not to pay a consultation fee and you would not expect a doctor to give you a diagnosis without a full examination. In the same way, our consultations are designed to give you unique advice about your specific case.
