About

Eugene is a partner and founder of the firm. Since the early 1980's, he has been involved in the prosecution and defense of personal injury and property damage actions, and in particular those actions involving the taxi, limousine and livery business. From 1986 through 1989 he acted as in-house counsel for an insurance carrier that wrote liability for NYC Medallion taxi cabs; oversaw all litigation and litigation support. At the current time he represents three insurance carriers in auto liability defense, for personal injury and property damage including subrogation claims. Over the last five years has either tried or supervised the trial of over five hundred cases in this area as well as having prepared and argued ten (10) appeals to the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court, First and Second Departments; He has also have developed proficiency in area of Workers Compensation Law as relates to taxi cabs and livery vehicles under Section (2)3 of the N.Y. Workers Compensation Law. Since 1978, Eugene has represented institutional lenders in making secured loans to New York City Taxi Medallion Owners. He authored the standard loan package which has been utilized over the last 30 years by lenders in the industry. His representation of lenders also includes the preparation, execution and proper filing of loan and lien documents. In addition he supervises debt collection matters of several institutional and various private lenders, both secured and unsecured, as well as being involved in foreclosure of both real and personal property, and prosecuting other debt collection actions. He has also developed a proficiency in estate planning and Surrogate's Court matters, with an emphasis on individuals mostly relating to taxi medallion owners and their assets. Former counsel to United Taxi Brokers Association; involved with policy and legislation concerning New York City taxi industry; Member of Board of Directors of one public company.
