Tennessee lawyer Erin King knew she wanted to practice family law since her parents got a divorce when she was a teenager. “I saw how something like a divorce or a custody dispute becomes a huge life event,” Ms. King said. “That experience made me want to provide people with the tools to get through these difficult legal experiences while providing calm and objectivity in a tumultuous situation.” It is Ms. King’s stated goal to provide her clients with the honesty and knowledge needed to have realistic expectations and make informed decisions in their case. “Often in family law cases, clients are at their worst, afraid of losing control over their life and unsure of what their future will look like,” she said. “I want my clients to know their options and be able to make educated decisions about their future.” Ms. King thinks her preparedness drives who she is as a lawyer. “While there are several things that I can’t control in a domestic case,” she said, “I can control how hard I’ve worked and how prepared I am.”
