A proud Wyoming native, Ed was born in Cheyenne and raised in Douglas, where he graduated from Converse County High School. His academic journey included prestigious institutions such as Columbia University in New York City, Northwest College in Powell, and Black Hills State University in Spearfish, South Dakota. Ed graduated Magna Cum Laude from Black Hills State, earning honors as an All-American wrestler while maintaining an impressive academic record. In 1991, Ed graduated with distinction from the University of Wyoming College of Law, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif, a testament to his legal acumen. Following law school, Ed served as a law clerk for Chief United States District Court Judge Clarence Brimmer, and later as an Honors Program Trial Attorney with the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. His commitment to serving his community led him back to Wyoming, where he has held various esteemed positions, including partner at a small law firm, Rawlins City Attorney, and elected Carbon County Prosecuting Attorney. Throughout his career, Ed has successfully tried hundreds of cases in both jury and bench trials, encompassing a wide range of issues from major felonies to minor misdemeanors. Additionally, Ed has served as the Superior Municipal Judge and an alternate Rawlins Municipal Judge, as well as a circuit court magistrate. From 2003 to 2011, he was a hearing examiner for the State of Wyoming, further solidifying his reputation as a knowledgeable and dedicated legal professional.
