Mr. Woods focuses his practice in the areas of civil litigation, including personal injury, product liability, construction defect, employment law, commercial litigation, subrogation and appeals. Mr. Woods also serves as an arbitrator for King County, Snohomish County and Pierce County Superior Courts. Mr. Woods is licensed to practice in the state of Washington and Oregon. He is also licensed to practice in Federal Court, including the Eastern District of Washington, the Western District of Washington and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Woods has successfully tried cases involving personal injury, wrongful death, product liability, property rights and discrimination. He also is an experienced appellate lawyer, having successfully argued cases in both state and federal court. From 2003 – 2008, by a vote of his peers, Mr. Woods was named a "Rising Star" in the Washington Law & Politics magazine. Mr. Woods has frequently spoken to various insurers, businesses, trade groups and professional associations on a variety of topics including, construction defect litigation, employment law, premises liability, product defect, damages and resolution of liens. Mr. Woods was a featured speaker at the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers first annual Construction Defect Academy where he spoke about trial tactics concerning expert depositions, cross-examination and related motion practice.. Mr. Woods received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History/American literature from Miami University, Ohio in 1995. In 1998, he received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver where he also was a member of the Law Review. Mr. Woods is a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel; Oregon and Washington State Bars; the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association; the King County Bar Association (where he is a member of the ADR Committee); the American Bar Association; Multnomah Bar Association; and the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers (where he is a member of the Judicial Liaison Committee). Mr. Woods’ personal interests include backpacking, sailing and sea kayaking. He has pursued these interests in Mexico, Africa, Canada, Europe, South America and throughout the United States. His travels have been featured in the New York Times and Washington Law & Politics magazine. Mr. Woods has also volunteered his time with such organizations as the YMCA and Habitat for Humanity.
