David M. Thompson is an attorney with the Omaha law firm of Carlson & Burnett, where his practice focuses on Elder Law, Medicaid planning, veterans benefits, and guardianships/conservatorships. David also directs the firm’s marketing and business development efforts and has presented and published articles on a wide range of topics. He currently serves as Vice President of the Elder Law Section of the Nebraska State Bar Association. He received his B.A. with high distinction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, his master’s degree from Oxford University and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, David attended law school at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law in Chicago, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Northwestern University Law Review and was the recipient of the Raoul Berger Prize for Senior Research. David returned to Omaha in 2013 to care for his aging parents, and he currently serves as guardian for numerous low-income, unrepresented seniors.
