About

Mr. Petrov represents individuals in a wide variety of employment-related and civil rights matters before federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels. He has successfully litigated claims of wrongful discharge and discrimination under nearly every federal and state equal employment opportunity law, including claims for discrimination on the basis of age, race, national origin, religion, sex, and disability, claims for sexual and racial harassment, and retaliation and whistleblower claims. He has obtained million dollar judgments on behalf of his clients, including a landmark $6.7 million award in the arbitration of an age and disability case, and a $3 million judgment in a state retaliation case. Mr. Petrov handles claims for violations of federal and state wage and hour laws, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the National Labor Relations Act, and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act. Mr. Petrov has significant experience negotiating and litigating employment agreements, noncompetition and nonsolicitation covenants, and confidentiality agreements. Mr. Petrov received a Bachelors of Arts degree in English from Columbia College of Columbia University in the City of New York. He received his law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2001, where he served as Executive Articles Editor of the Journal of International Law. Prior to joining the firm in 2006, Mr. Petrov practiced labor and employment law as an associate with Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP. Mr. Petrov is active in the Northeast Ohio community, sitting on the Board of Directors of the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center and the Executive Leadership Board of Playhouse Square Partners. He is a former member of the law alumni board of Case Western Reserve University School of Law and the Columbia University Alumni Representative Committee, and volunteers as a class agent for the University School Annual Fund.
