About

Chynna T. Smith is a civil attorney, focusing in personal injury, medical malpractice, and civil litigation. A North Carolina native, Chynna grew up in Newton Grove, North Carolina—a real small-town USA. After graduating with highest honors from North Carolina Wesleyan College, she went on to The University of Tulsa College of Law in Tulsa, Oklahoma to complete her law degree. While in law school, Chynna served as an Editor on Tulsa Law Review, competed with the American Association for Justice travelling Moot Court team, and completed several internships, including one with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Oklahoma. She rounded out her last semester in law school back home, with an internship at DeMent Askew & Johnson, learning the ins and outs of court in Wake County and making valuable connections. Chynna spent a year in private practice gaining experience in civil litigation and criminal/traffic law, handling small claims actions and defending DWIs, probation violations, and other misdemeanor and felony offenses, before returning to DeMent Askew & Johnson. As a small-town transplant to the city, she understands the importance of human interaction and connection. She is dedicated to learning each client’s story and will zealously advocate for the greatest outcome in every case.
