Christopher William Bowman is an associate attorney at Madigan, Dahl & Harlan, P.A. in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he has been a valuable member of the team since November 2019. His practice encompasses both litigation and transactional work, with a particular focus on appeals and civil rights litigation. Prior to joining Madigan, Dahl & Harlan, Chris gained substantial experience at a national railroad litigation firm, representing employees of the nation’s rail carriers in injury claims under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act and whistleblower claims under the Federal Rail Safety Act. He has distinguished himself as one of the leading attorneys in the country in FRSA matters, successfully arguing cases and appeals before the Department of Labor as well as the Fifth and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals. Chris is actively involved in the Appellate Practice Section Council of the Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA). He has represented the MSBA before the Minnesota Supreme Court and the Minnesota Court of Appeals on numerous occasions, either as amicus curiae or as appointed counsel, to facilitate comprehensive legal arguments on issues related to civil rights litigation, family law, and civil procedure. In recognition of his pro bono contributions, Chris received the MSBA’s Award of Professional Excellence in June 2019. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and English from Lawrence University of Wisconsin and earned his J.D., cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
