About

Charlotte has over 26 years of experience practicing employment law, healthcare law, professional licensure and malpractice, commercial law, insurance coverage, and product liability law. She recently expanded her areas of practice to include special education law, as a natural extension of her employment law practice and issues of disability accommodation. Charlotte also has represented financial industry clients before FINRA. Her experience includes serving for 2 years as in-house general counsel to a hospital client. Throughout her career, Charlotte's professional focus has been to provide her clients with the tools necessary to obtain the best results whether the issues involved personnel management, negotiated transaction or adversarial proceedings. Charlotte graduated from Agnes Scott College and Washington and Lee University School of Law. As an undergraduate, she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and the Mortar Board Society, and graduated with High Honors. As a law student, she was appointed to serve as Co-Director of the Western State Hospital Legal Aid Society. In 2016, Charlotte was recognized by Chambers U.S.A. for Employment Litigation. She also has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America under the categories of Employment Law Management, ERISA Litigation and Healthcare Law. Best Lawyers honored Charlotte in 2016 as one of its Women Lawyers of the Year (West Virginia). Charlotte is admitted to practice in all of the courts of West Virginia and Kentucky, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fourth and Sixth Circuits. She is a Member of the West Virginia Bar Association, the Cabell County (WV) Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia ("DTCWV"), and the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates. Charlotte is a past Chair of the Employment Law Committee for DTCWV. Charlotte has lectured to professional groups in multiple areas of employment law, as well as on issues involving managing troubled professionals, medical malpractice defense, physician-patient communications, health information management, mental health law, psychiatric forensics, and elder and child abuse law. She has also published articles on psychiatric malpractice, medical monitoring, the Privacy Standards under HIPAA, and EMTALA. In addition to her professional activities, Charlotte is a Member of the 2016 Class for Leadership West Virginia and currently serves on the Boards of the Facing Hunger Food Bank and Prestera Center for Mental Health Services, Inc. She lives in Huntington with her husband and son.
